Thoughtful Movement & Fitness

We offer one (1x) COMPLETELY FREE MONTH of training, because...
We teach effective and safe resistance training with the express purpose of helping to improve quality of life far beyond the benefits of conventional and aesthetic-focused training.
We do this by understanding and teaching the nuances and intricacies involved with motivational psychology when applied to the use of conventional training modalities and tools.
The result is a thoughtful movement framework that serves the individual over the course of their lifetime.
This is not a program of weight loss or muscle gain (though we do do these things). This is not a program at all, but rather a FRAMEWORK that is ultimately and completely adaptive to the needs of the individual.
When approached effectively, fitness is necessarily a multi-year journey. For many of us, it means being willing to make one or two small steps every day that add up naturally over time to meaningful and sustained change.
In this context, one free month of training is actually a very small piece of the overall journey. The flip side of this coin is that much of the foundational material can be taught in that time, so it is perfectly okay for anybody and everybody to choose to work with Clayton for only a month. It is FREE, there's no obligation to continue after that free period, and an individual can walk away with a basic understanding of how to approach exercise safely and effectively.
Those who choose to train with Clayton long-term find themselves partnered with an expert who continuously offers guidance, support, empathy, expertise, silliness, and gentle reminders of the importance and urgency of the work at hand.
At Thoughtful Movement & Fitness we don't train so that we look a certain way. We train so that we are happier, healthier, more capable, more educated, and more prepared to meet the demands of life. We teach nutrition and movement with the goal of feeling good physically, mentally, and emotionally.
TMF maintains close relationships with a variety of specialized therapists and other providers. Though this approach to movement can be therapeutic, it is NOT therapy or a substitute. Co-enrollment in psychotherapy with a trusted professional therapist is strongly recommended.

Raised in the business, training has been an integral part of Clayton's life from a young age. As a child of a personal trainer he was exposed to both the good and the bad of the fitness industry and found that the industry as a whole tended to serve primarily those willing to push harder, do more, and keep going unquestioningly. While these values can serve the goal of physique change, they can be detrimental to mental health and general well-being.
Experiencing this first-hand, Clayton began to explore the ways in which conventional fitness tools might be used to benefit his own mental health and well-being. His personal, academic, and professional goals would coalesce around uncovering and sharing these insights with others in a way that might serve them and improve their lives beyond the changing of their physique/aesthetic. His work as a psychological researcher and as a personal trainer benefit each other mutually, creating novel and unique opportunities for those he works with.
